Geografia wyrazów z historycznej Litwy w Słowniku gwar polskich Jana Karłowicza w ujęciu Elżbiety Koniusz

Abstract

The paper discusses the so called “geography of words” from historical Lithuania contained in The Dictionary of Polish dialects by Jan Karłowicz, an eminent linguist and researcher of the Polish language and regional dialect. The text is supplemented by a map showing villages, where Jan Karłowicz found lexical materiał used in his dictionary (most of the linguistic data were recorded in the vicinity of Lida, Wilno, Swięciany, Nowogródek, Poniewież and others). The uniąue source of materiał was used in the “Glossary of Lithuanian Poles dialect” by Alexander Petrov who, appreciating the immense contribution of Professor Elżbieta Koniusz in research on the historical geography of Lithuania’s words recommends creating a dictionary Polish language of the 19th century connected with this linguistic-cultural area.
