dc.description.abstractThe article presents reflexions on the practical use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in work/personal contacts with mute people. These considerations are a result of the authors’ contacts with mute people and their families. The article intentionally does not contain any theoretical deliberations. The aim of the authors was to use real-life examples to illustrate the problems of mute people in the context of their emotional and social situation as well as the economic barriers. The article also contains reflexions on the didactic classes on AAC conducted by the authors with the students of speech therapy at the Academy of Special Education.en
