Abstract
Music is one of few arts, which easily and profoundly enters the mental sphere of disabled people. It happens because the absorption and creation of music is based on subconsciousness and intuition. All actions of disabled people in the area of music have deep emotional basis on which the cognitive processes should be developed. One of the musical activities is playing musical instruments which fascinates not only disabled people. This natural interest should be used for the general development and education of disabled people. However, due to their physical and mental handicap, disabled people have a limited access to active playing music. Notes and musical instruments unsuitable for disabled people are an inextricable barrier. The former were created on the course of evolution for people without disabilities. They are incomprehensible for people with disabilities as they abstractly stand for rhythmic values and the pitch of tones. I suggest substitution of notes with numbers and letters. Such transcript is simple and easy to learn as it is based on symbols that are rudimentary and well-known in education. Playing music with the use of numbers and letters perfectly correlates with other school subjects. As a result, playing musical instruments using the numerical and literary method creates new possibilities in therapeutic and rehabilitation influences for people with multiple disabilities. It is necessary to adjust contemporary instruments or design new ones that would be suitable for people with physical defects. Examples of new instruments include the keyboard overlays or key bells of my design.
