On the basis of her own experiences, the author of the article ponders the situation of disabled adolescents. According to research the puberty process of disabled people begins at the same time as in the case of people without disabilities and is similar when it comes to the biological processes. One may expect that disabled people face similar developmental challenges as their able-bodied peers. The author of the article refers to the developmental tasks of puberty from the perspective of the psychoanalytical theory. On that theoretical basis she considers the difficulties and limitations that disabled adolescents face as well as methods of supporting them in their development and helping them to overcome the difficulties.en
