dc.description.abstract | The article presents the problems that adults with profound multiple disabilities have to struggle with after
finishing education. They face a barrier of the lack of places for people with considerable functional problems at
Occupational Therapy Workshops and in Centres for People with Special Needs.
In order to provide the better understanding of the issue, the article presents three adults with profound multiple
disabilities whose families experienced the abovementioned problem. In spite of numerous adversities they managed
to find a place for their sons/daughters in a daily care centre which is adjusted to working with people with
severe multiple disabilities.
In the further part, the article presents the functioning of the Rehabilitation and Support Centre for Adults with
Profound Multiple Disabilities run by the Christian Association of Disabled People as a project institution
supporting adults with severe multiple disabilities. It also presents the process of establishing the institution
and a brief overview of activities in which the participants take part during their stay in the Support Centre.
The final part of the article describes problems that bother the participants, their families and indirectly also
the employees of the Centre and refer to the lack of permanent and stable source of financing the activity of the
Support Centre. | en |
