Неожиданная пограничность. Случай Боровичей

Abstract

Явление пограничности следует рассматривать не только в актуальном аспекте. Его уместно дополнить диахронным подходом историка и свойственным для антрополога интересом к особенному, специфичному, к качественным аспектам реальности. Показателен пример Боровичей – одного из городов Северо-Запада России, изучавшегося в рамках проекта «Социальная антропология современного российского города». Город, воспринимаемый как экономический и культурный центр восточной части Новгородской области, сложился, как выясняется при глубоком рассмотрении, на целом «пучке» природных, культурных, этнических и других границ. Можно сделать вывод, что факторы разъединения могут в определённых условиях стать факторами объединения, что пограничное положение может оказаться выгодным и привести к формированию нового центра, делая таким образом периферийность и центричность относительными.

The phenomenon of the boundariness should be regarded not only in its present aspect. It is worth to be complemented with the diachronic approach of the historian and the anthropologist’s interest in the specific, peculiar, qualitative aspects of the reality. Significant is the example of Borovichi, a town of the north-western Russia, that has been studied in the research project “Social Anthropology of Modern Russian Town”. The town, usually perceived as an economical and cultural centre of the eastern part of Novgorod region in the very middle Russia, formed (as revealed by a deeper examination) on a whole “bundle” of natural, cultural, ethnical and other boundaries. One may conclude that the factors of division can under certain circumstances become factors of unification, that the borderline situation can turn out as advantageous and lead to the formation of a new centre, thus making the centrality and peripheralness relative.
