The book, in two parts, presents a collection of studies end theoretical analyses
related to the phenomena of communication and coping with stress.
The first part presents the research into basic skills necessary for cognitive
reception of written text that still remains an important carrier of knowledge
and culture. The ability to comprehend written language influences further
development of language, intelligence, and other aspects of personality.
The second part of the book comprises analyses of theoretical constructs
and empirical research into the adaptive mechanisms activated in difficult
situations and coping abilities of young adults. This part also contains a discussion
of the relation between the loss of sense of life, anxiety, and depression
in students. Finally, motives of bullying at school are analysed.
