dc.description.abstractThe main aim of the article is an attempt to make a group portrait of the authors of The Commission of National Education textbooks, which were published under the auspices of the Society of Elementary Books. Among them are both representatives of the Piarists and Jesuits, clergymen, and lay authors. In their biographies one can find many common elements which are characteristic for the Enlightenment. The text points at such important issues from their lives as: educational paths, obtained education (together with academic degrees), and main areas of professional activity. In addition, their interests, academic achievements, as well as journalistic, social, and patriotic activity were also taken into consideration.en_EN
