The article is a review of discussions contained in reports of Galician gymnasiums
during 1860–1918. The analysis focused on guidance-related demands proposed in the
times of The Commission of National Education which were evoked by the authors of
these discussions. It was shown that in their discussions S. Stodolak, T. Czapczyński,
S. Koprowicz and F. Bizoń referred to reforms introduced in the Polish educational system
in the 1700s; they focused on issues related to moral education, emphasized the necessity
for teaching youngsters to be kind and generous, so that they could act as models for other
people. They recognized the need to continue conduct-related guidance in intellectual,
moral and physical education. By pointing out the main assumptions proposed by
S. Konarski, H. Kołłątaj, G. Piramowicz and The Commission of National Education,
they emphasized the need to improve conduct-related guidance in Galician gymnasiums.
