Abstract

Mountain villages of Myślenice and Sucha Beskidzka districts are devided into role/plough lands each having a few slightly semantically different names. There are variant forms like: U Kubiaka, Kubiakowo, Kubiakówka, Rola Kubiakowa (or Kubiacza). Names with the proposition u/with (do/to, od/from), also na/on mean built over parts of plough lands, names with the suffix -owo refer to whole plough land areas excluding built over parts, names ending with -ówka define whole, both built over and not, plough land areas just as officially characterized compounds with Rola (Kubiakowa). Other, topographical or plural, names are rare. It is obvious that on maps or in guides variant names are not published but chosen names are mixed, different types occur in one village or one type dominates in one village and another one in a neighbouring village though in fact there are no such differences. It should be all unified.
