The purpose of considerations presented in the paper is to show how twenty years olds understand the term 'aggression', how they conceptualize one of the cruellest act at the beginning of the second millennium. Exemplifying material includes spontaneous answers given to the question: How do you understand the meaning of the word 'aggression'? by students of Polish philology and of political sciences at Rzeszow University. In the analysis of the gathered material (148 students' opinions) the script theory belonging to the cognitive methodology was used. The most students conceptualize the word AGGRESSION as VIOLENCE (26.62%) and ACTION (26.62%), next as BEHAVIOUR (25,12%), and then as STATE, ATTITUDE, EMOTIONS. PHENOMENON, FEATURE OF SB/STH. Such a conceptual structure manifests that at the basis of conceptualization of the notion lies individual experiences of respondents. They also most often ascribe negative valuing to the notion, only a few cases of conceptualization imply positive estimation of it. Aggression is the basic notion in students' language but it is not a primary semantic element: it is a semantic agglomeration. It is possible to consider basic semantic components of the notion 'aggression', elements that allow to describe experiences of an examined group to be true to the following scheme: an aggressor, a victim, an action/behaviour, a place, a reason, an intention/a purpose, an opinion (valuation).en_EN
