dc.description.abstract | The aim of this paper is to compare śleboda (a word from the Podhale region dialect) and
wolność (Polish word for ‘freedom’). The selection of these words is not accidental. Śleboda
and wolność are very important concepts, the former – in the regional folk culture of
Podhale, the latter – in the Polish language and culture. The inspiration for this article was
Anna Wierzbicka’s Understanding Cultures through Their Key Words. English, Russian, Polish,
German, and Japanese. The comparative analysis of the two lexemes demonstrated that
śleboda is relatively more egocentric. | en_EN |
