Abstract

The article is about the dependence between parental attitudes of mothers and adaptability of children with mental disability in preschool age. The first part comprises the theoretical reflections on the meaning of parental attitudes of mothers of children with mild mental disability and the level of adaptability in the described group of children. The next part presents the results of own study, conducted in years 2012–2013 on a group of 25 children in preschool age and their mothers. The aim of this study was to determine the correlations between parental attitudes presented by the mothers and the level of adaptability characterizing the studied children. The article ends with a summary, conclusions formulated on the basis of the study results described before and the practical implications about the possibility of stimulation of disrupted areas from the range of adaptability behavior in studied preschool children, with consideration to parental attitudes of the studied mothers.
