The aim of the article is to present Seraphim of Sarov as a representative of Russian religious
philosophy. First of all, the author characterizes the Russian religious philosophy.
Afterwards, he recalls the heritage of individual Russian thinkers. In the following part, the
author presents the life of Seraphim of Sarov which can constitute an example of implementation
of the philosophical assumptions into practice. Thereafter, Seraphim Sarov’s admonitions
that he gave to Nicholas Motovilov during a conversation are discussed. These admonitions,
preserved in the form of notes, are examples of a philosophical reflection in a spirit
of Eastern Christianity and fit in the history of the Russian religious philosophy. The author
finds Seraphim of Sarov one of the healers of the patristic tradition in the 19th century Russian
Orthodox Church.
