dc.description.abstractThe article tries to characterise diminutives and affective forms both in terms of quantity and ąuality. It analyses eight poems written by seven Polish writers of the Romanticism period. The analysis is based on the assumptions of B. Kreja and presents the classification of derivational forms according to: words describing people (generał names, relatives family names, Professional and formal names, proper names, names with expressive forms in the root); names of tools; utensils, eąuipment (also weapons); vehicles and their parts; various structures, buildings, constructions and their parts; names of garments, beddings and linens, names of animals and their groups; names of body parts and their positioning; names of trees and plants and their parts; names of natural phenomena and of topographic shapes; names relating to writing, printings, paper, speaking and conveying information, art, artistic forms; various names of abstracts; time; measures; dishes; money; astronomical terms; etc. Additionally, attention has been paid to the function of these diminutives and affective forms within the analysed poems.en
