Polish language textbooks have changed greatly since their introduction into the educational system. The illustrative part is currently strongly emphasised as it is a factor that may determine teachers’ choice. The author of the article points to the problems induced by such approach and connected with the “reading” of a multiplicity of works of art which illustrate the learning of Polish. He focuses on the reception and interpretation of works of art and their dependence on the context in which they appear, especially in texts from the coursebooks.en
