For the 21-century man progressive and continuous development of information technology
(IT) is part of the information society. Being part of such a society requires of its members
not only to acquire but also to continuously deepen their knowledge and skills in the field of
information technology. Therefore, the aim of the study was to obtain information on these
skills and presence of IT in the daily life of high school students with intellectual disabilities.
To gain knowledge in this area the research used a questionnaire containing 17 questions
devoted to the use of information technology in daily lives of the students (use of the computer,
the Internet, mobile phones). The data obtained show that the tested young people
have access to information technology, mainly through a computer (Internet) and mobile
phone. With access to computers and the Internet the surveyed students most often: play,
browse the Internet, use Facebook, watch movies or listen to music. As far as the use of
a mobile phone is concerned, the results indicate that students have coped well with the possibilities
offered by modern mobile phones. In conclusion it should be emphasized that, in
spite of their disability, a group of high school students studied successfully use information
technology in everyday life.
