The teaching character of educational discourse as ‘the third work of reason’ means such transferring and transforming specialized discourses to transfer knowledge to less educated receivers. Such rules of producing utterances are typical for education. Educational discourse is a general speech genre that includes questions and answers understood as ‘the first work of reason’, as well as conversation meaning an informal mental genre of linguistic activity in which a teacher chooses speech acts and genres – ‘the second work of reason’. Educational discourse is a formal mental speech genre that supports pupils' cognitive self- -dependence and an active attitude towards the world. In educational linguistics it refers to ‘the third work of reason’ that enables efficiency of communication by means of understanding the verbal code (cognitive value in discourse).en
