The article discusses adressative forms (FA) in several episodes of ‘Europe Is Likeable’ TV
programme. The most common forms are those that define equivalent relationships. By
contrast, FA showing a subordinate relationship have the smallest occurrence rate.
This situation mainly depends on the age of the participants and the nature of the television
show, which purpose was to talk about a variety of topics, emphasizing similarities and
differences between Europeans, all done in a humorous way.
These discussions were intended to convince the viewers to the idea of a united Europe and
to create an atmosphere that is based on the close relationships which can be observed by the
use of appropriate adressative forms.
