In order to start supporting the development of a person with multiple disabilities as early as possible it is necessary to properly and effectively conduct a diagnosis using appropriate diagnostic tools. Properly prepared tolls help a clinician to differentiate a number of developmental disorders in children. The most widespread instruments for diagnosis of autism contemporarily used in the Western Europe, United States and in Australia, both in scientific research and in clinical diagnosis – known as so-called „golden standard” of diagnosis – are: Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-G). Unfortunately, both tools have not been available in Poland so far. In cooperation with the main publisher, Western Psychological Services, the process of translating both tools into Polish has begun. At present, their back translation is being verified by the authors of the original versions. Then, the realization of a project will start. It will consist in re-conducting diagnoses (with the use of ADI-R and ADOS-G instruments) of patients previously diagnosed with disorders with autism spectrum by a psychiatrist.en
