The article is a review paper on the medical and psychosocial aspects of Marfan syndrome (MFS). It presents the
problem of the diagnosis, etiology, epidemiology, symptomology and medical therapy as well as the results of
foreign language empirical analyses on the autoperception of the illness, stress, the quality of life of people
with Marfan syndrome as well as on the social stigmatization they perceive. Taking into consideration the fact that
no research on the non-medical aspects of rehabilitation of people with Marfan syndrome has been conducted in
Poland the author of the article points to the necessity of diagnosing the psychosocial adaptation of these people
in Poland and of widening the offer of the specialist and interdisciplinary support in further perspective.
