A book is an important source of cultural transmission as well as an element in the process of therapy and rehabilitation of disabled people. The article presents the possibilities of using books in working with blind and visually impaired children with additional disabilities. It points to the most frequent problems connected with using books by children with multiple disabilities as well as the possibilities and ways of adjusting both the material form of a book and its content to the manual, perceptual and intellectual abilities of students. The article discusses the importance of an adult intermediary in the contact of a child with multiple disabilities with a book. It also presents the ways in which therapists and parents can use books in rehabilitation connected with improving the motor abilities, exercising intellectual abilities, psychotherapeutic influence, building bonds as well as engaging blind and visually impaired children with additional disabilities into culture thanks to the syncretic character of the child’s contact with a book connected with the rhyme, rhythm, music, play and dance.en
