I have been working with and for disabled children for 30 years. It has been a constant creation of friendly
reality, particular achievements and good solutions, including:
the establishment of a secondary school in the Children and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic,––
the establishment of a specific institution for children with multiple disabilities,––
the creation of the Centre for Children with Hearing Impairment and the Team for Linguistic ––Diagnosis and
Therapy,
opening new faculties of vocational and secondary school education, ––
the development and inculcation of the system of special contests and the review of ar––tistic groups (Bagatela
Theatre, 1993 – the first performance of disabled children in the history of Krakow).
In 1991 the first integrated class and the first brochure for disable people and people requiring help were
created. These were the most important country-scale events as they changed the normative acts. National Councils
of Special Education also contributed to the development of integration. Then I understood how important clever
creation is, how important the term “supporting school” is, how important people engaged in helping the needy
children are. On of such people is Stanisława Centkowska, the founder of the Foundation and Nursing Home for
Children with Severe Disability. I accepted the proposition of establishing a school in that institution almost
immediately and today we undertake complex activities of all entities to maximize the participation in the social
life. We do this in the building of the 21st century, in the atmosphere of good ideas. We realize natural needs of
children through striving for common joy and success because our school is created for children and in our school
one can say “our precious children.”
