The article deals with the specificity of the functioning of people with multiple disabilities.
It presents definitions of multiple disabilities, their specificity and diversity. It also discusses the problems
of the intellectual, emotional, motivational and social sphere. The analysis of the research of reference books
points to the problem of functioning of disabled adults, difficulties related to the simplest life situations
connected with general resourcefulness, social acceptance and functioning in social roles.
Centres for People with Special Needs and local support systems play an invaluable role in the process of preparing
such people for independence. These centres help disabled people to develop their inborn abilities and to overcome
their own limitations and difficulties.
The article presents the Centre for People with Special Needs in Sarzyna, discusses the aims of the Centre,
functioning methods and the system of support for disabled people.
