The problem tackled in this thesis is the assessment of the quality of life and its correlates
of parents of children with cerebral palsy. The variables for which the relationship has been
assessed in correlation to the quality of life are as follows: Big Five personality traits, a sense
of alienation, coping strategies, an evaluation of resources, socio-demographic variables, as
well as information on the assessment of a child with CP health. The aim of the study was
to find an answer whether there is a significant correlation between a sense of quality of life
of parents of children with CP and specific socio-demographic and intrapsychic variables.
The statistical analysis of gained data has shown that socio-demographic variables as well as
variables correlated with the state of a child’s health do not correlate significantly with the
quality of life. The exception is the age of a child with CP, which correlates with a feeling
of satisfaction with a physical sphere of life and a feeling of satisfaction with a social sphere
of life. It is worth noticing that other variables that had been taken into consideration showed
significant correlation with the sense of quality of life.
