The article consists of three parts. First, I present a theoretical reflection on the support and
autonomy of people with disabilities. Support donor, in this paper, is a special educator,
who spends every day dealing with education and rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
People with disabilities are identified as the support recipients. The empirical part contains
an analysis of the results of research carried out among students of special pedagogy. Their
task was to characterize the donor and recipient of support. From the answers I have been
provided with, I have specified those features that could potentially favor or threaten the
recipient’s autonomy. The last part is a summary of the analysis.
