dc.description.abstract | Phraseology is a part of linguistics (lexicology) that deals with the analysis and description of
set phrases – expressions whose elements cannot be changed or exchanged. Contemporary
speech is full of examples of incorrect use of set phrases and idioms that result from
unfamiliarity with their structure and meaning. In the article, the author analyses the entire
problem and points the reasons of this situation. He refers to the etymology of selected
linguistic expressions, the beginnings of their presence in the writing and their long-lasting
existence in their genetic form and orthography. | en_EN |
