dc.description.abstract | Funeral metaphors refers to versified cemetery inscription collected from cemeteries of Kielce and its environs
at the end of the 20th century. The metaphors, called in the paper applied metaphor, occurs in schematic texts,
which assumes conventionalizing of used language patterns and consequently shows pragmatic context. In general it
is a description of linguo- metaphorical phenomena from the perspective of pragmatics and cognitive grammar.
Special attention was paid to orientation metaphor “up - down” and to structural metaphor “the light”. Iconic
interpretation of some metaphors also helped to show funeral metaphor as a cultural and - in a sense -
extralinguistic phenomenon. | en_EN |
