dc.description.abstract | The article discusses the relation between practical stylistics and modern theories in textology.
The first, informative part of the article concerns the direction of transformations that
allow placing stylistics in the context of broadly understood theory of text. Stylistics, which
used to be regarded as a methodologically separate discipline, is now losing its theoretical
independence, and dissolving in the interdisciplinary approach and the supremacy of text as
the research category.
The second part of the article is illustrative and contains an example of practical stylistic
analysis of a selected text – an excerpt. It has been used before in a course designed for the first
year students of Polish Philology. It is one of many examples serving to improve the listeners’
idiolects, focusing on various types and genres of expression. Alternation of activities: pattern
analysis and own text editing is intended to enhance, apart from the above-mentioned skills,
those that support metatextual and commenting abilities, for the latter are an indispensable
tool in evaluating pupils’ works.
The third part of the article complements the first one, and confirms that stylistics has been
deeply involved in textological research. Using the tools elaborated by text theory makes
stylistics lose its independence and remain only one of dimensions in text analysis. | en_EN |
