dc.description.abstract | Dynamic changes in abilities and cognitions of young generations (both students and pupils)
compel people responsible for teacher training and university education to answer to new
challenges of the contemporary world. It is necessary to make teachers remember that ‘each
child matters’ and prepare them to be able to recognise its real needs. They should be aware
of possible political influence on the “National curriculum”, so as to keep the critical distance
to the introduced changes. In the dramatic situation of the decreasing number of readers,
teachers should know how to motivate children to read books and understand their values.
University ought to prepare teacher trainees for freedom and responsibility of choosing both
books and ways of interpreting them at school. Nowadays it is worth implementing the main
theses of ethical and cultural turn in literature studies to philosophy of literature education. | en_EN |
