Polish philology-oriented knowledge is an interdisciplinary area. Therefore a good Polish philology researcher should combine language- and literature-related skills, but also, especially nowadays, cultural, medial and social skills. A specialist major offered at the Polish Philology Department covers the newest trends and methods of social integration embraced in numerous EU countries, as well as needs resulting from the rapid development of medial communication techniques and intercultural discourse in the united Europe. First of all, it emphasizes possibilities of a Polish philology-oriented knowledge in the area of recognizing local community’s needs and their fulfilment through activities undertaken in a non-governmental area, e.g. through establishing foundations and societies creating bases for a civil society.en_EN
