The aim of the study of six years old children and pupils of seven grade in primary school was to investigate relations between reading comprehension and complex interaction of subjects’ intellectual and temperamental traits, motivation and text characteristics (interesting for the reader vs not interesting, difficult vs easy). The influence of age was also studing.
Many different interactions between individual traits, text characteristic and experimentally changed factor of subjects’ motivation, influencing the level of reading comprehension were found. It was impossible to investigate general pattern of relations between dependent and independent variables. It was found that the quantity and heterogeneity of interactions between individual traits, text characteristics, influencing reading comprehension, increased with age of subjects. But general tendency expressing relation between reading comprehension and interaction between individual traits and text characteristics did not change with age.
