The considerations relate to reflections on the existence of values in the world and education of Lower Secondary School youth.
The author traces those in selected educational and empirical material among teenagers (13–16 years old) being in the stage
of rebellion and negation of commonly accepted values. She checks where the place of moral values in the world of hedonistic
values is; whether a young person chooses what is “nice, easy and pleasurable”, or whether he/she aspires to search for what
is valuable and important in spiritual development of a human being. The author focuses on a few words – valuable and value
determining notions that appear in Lower Secondary School education, treated marginally but frequently emerging in students’
evaluations and choices. These are: attractiveness, happiness and tolerance.
