The article focuses on theatrical education in early childhood education. Theatre prepared
for children and theatre prepared by children are close to a drama game whose contribution
to child development is acknowledged by psychologists. With everything in play, games as
well as conventional and symbolic theatre, one might assume that by taking part in drama
games, a child acquires and practices abilities to interpret symbolic content that is present
in a theatrical performance. A theatrical performance is meant as a creative process whose
values are language and communication. Therefore, the combination of voice, gestures, mime,
pauses or silence builds forms of expression suitable for employment in the teaching process.
Thus, it is not surprising that the theatre and play can be easily linked together, woven into
one entity. In the Polish context, it may be significant to project teachers’ recent theatrical
and drama activities throughout the methodology of Jan Dorman, the creator of the theatrical
movement called the theatre of play.
