In this article, the most important problems concerning objectifying control in the process of
foreign language teaching are discussed. The author indicates that the basic object of control
during foreign language lessons should be speaking skills because checking knowledge of
the language system does not supply information on obtaining communicative competence
by a student. Furthermore, in the paper, problems concerning the function of control in the
process of language teaching, the choice of the form, the type and the way of accomplishing
the control are discussed and the examples of test tasks are presented as well.
