dc.description.abstract | The subject of the article concerns the evaluation of the recent innovations introduced in the
new formula of the Matura (secondary school-leaving) examination in Polish. The presented
reflections refer mainly to the written part of the exam. The observations made by the author
encourage a reflection on the purposefulness and sense of such innovations, chiefly the
composition task, which in this year’s exam took on the form of “an essay based on reading
with comprehension”
It may raise concerns that today’s Matura examination in Polish is in its majority reduced to
reading with comprehension. The aim of taking up this subject is to show alternative solutions,
which would enhance not only the evaluation of pupils’ skills, but also their knowledge and
development of creative thinking.
If the topic of the examination essay was worded in a different way, and referred e.g. to values,
motives, or topoi set in the context of not only the provided excerpt, but also other works
selected by the pupil, the answer key could also be modified.
The suggested solutions take into consideration not only the benefit of the average and belowaverage
pupils, but also the benefit of the very talented ones, who up till now have not had an
opportunity to fully present their knowledge and skills. | en_EN |
