In the article, the author considers three areas of challenge in the modern theory and
practice of literary-cultural education, determined by the character of civilizational-cultural
transformations: 1/ the educational formula and function of literary history teaching in the
higher-secondary school; 2/ the role, range and methodology of reading popular culture texts
in the Polish class; 3/ identity issues in a multi-cultural regional/national reality, and their
connections with the formative tasks of Polish as a school subject.
