SONB/SP/465103/2020 pt. "Organizacja kolekcji czasopism naukowych w Repozytorium UP wraz z wykonaniem rekordów analitycznych".Abstract
The article discusses examples of referring to the heritage, achievements, and ideas of
the first Ministry of Education in Europe – the Polish Commission of National Education.
Contemporary cultural realities interchangeably referred to as „liquid modernity”, „cultural
exhaustion”, and „civilization narrative”, confirm the accuracy, durability, versatility, and
complexity of the problems that bothered the founders of the Polish Commission of National
Education (KEN), and concerned, for example: effective forms of education, the national ethos,
the role of education for the man and society, the idea of citizenship, patriotism, building
national community and reflections on values such as freedom, solidarity, and democracy;
the need for continuity and intergenerational ties, promoting the common wellbeing, etc. The
article attempts to answer the question how and why we should refer to some of these topics
in the Polish language education.
