Abstract
The article presents a description of few expressions of the Biblical origin which in the Polish language have different semantic status than their equivalents in the canonical (Biblical) text. This phenomenon has been shown on the example of four expressions: (1) głos wołającego na puszczy / pustyni, (2) kamień obrazy, (3) niebieski ptak / ptaszek, (4) ubogi duchem / w duchu.
