This monograph is based on the results of research conducted in the 1998-2008; some data were partly presented in original articles published in scientific journals, conference proceedings and abstracts. The present dissertation presents some aspect of metal presence in tissues and organs of animals from different environments and different systematic groups. A part of data was presented in original articles published in scientific journals, conference proceedings and abstracts. A significant part of data was obtained during experiments and field research and has not been published. The dissertation presents selected aspects of heavy metal accumulation, distribution and bioavailability in tissues and organs of invertebrae and vertebrae animals. Selected toxic effects of trace and xenobiotic elements are described. The substantial part of the monograph presents the results of the research on the presence of metals in human tissues and milk. Special attention was paid to metal distribution in cancerous cells.en_EN
