Rzym : upadek i trwanie : późny antyk w polskiej powieści historycznej XX wieku : (Teodor Parnicki, Hanna Malewska)

Abstract

Celem pracy jest wskazanie, jak w toku XX wieku w świadomości i w praktyce powieściopisarzy zmieniała się metafora imperialnego Rzymu, obecna w polskiej powieści historycznej niemal od początku istnienia tego gatunku (Kraszewski, Sienkiewicz, Jeske-Choiński). Rozważania obejmują: przemiany powieści historycznej i nowy typ powieści historycznej (Berent, Parnicki, Malewska, Bocheński), tak zwaną rewolucję "Annales" w historiografii (Bloch, Febvre, Braudel, Le Goff oraz Peter Brown), refleksję powieściopisarzy na temat własnej praktyki pisarskiej oraz kwestię obecności motywów antycznych w literaturze i kulturze polskiej.

Aim of this study is to show how in the course of the twentieth century varied metaphor of the imperial Rome, present in the Polish historical novel almost since the inception of this genre (Kraszewski, Sienkiewicz, Jeske-Choiński). Considerations include: the transformation of the historical novel and a new type of historical novel (Berent, Parnicki, Malewska, Bochenski), the so-called "Annales" revolution in historiography (Bloch, Febvre, Braudel, Le Goff and Peter Brown), novelists' reflection on their writing practice, and finally the question of the presence of ancient motifs in literature and culture.
