Abstract

The thesis refers the picture of youthful and current dreams of middle-aged women. It contains the review of the literature connected with the mid-life crisis and the specificity of the crisis at women. One executed also the review of seizures in different psychological ideas of the sense and the denotation „the dream” its kinds, functions and sources of dreams and the role of dreams in the human's development. Four exploration questions concerning view of dreams at middle-aged women were formulated on the ground of literature. Four concerning hypotheses of connections between the picture of dreams and the factors of the personality, and four concerning hypotheses concerning dreams with the intensification of the mid-life crisis. The following investigative methods were used: the structured interview concerning dreams, the test of unfmished sentences of dreams, the ąuestionnaire of dreams and aims (Kałużna), The Midlife Crisis Questionnaire (version for women by Oleś and Baranowska, 2003), The personality Inventory NEO-FFI by Costa and McCrae. In research participated women aged 35-50 with the secondary education and higher. The group consisted of 112 people. One confirmed hypotheses: about the combination of neurotic with the feeling of realizing of youthful dreams, about the connections between the content and the form of dreams and with some features of the individuality, about the feeling of realizing the youthful dream with the intensification of the mid-life crisis, about the connection between this, whether middle-aged women already undertook activities aiming realization of their current dreams and with the intensification of the mid-life crisis, partly one confirmed also the hypothesis about the connection of the faith into the realization of current dreams with the intensification of the mid-life crisis.
