This report presents the concept of Polish Philology students education at the University of
Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, in their chosen teaching specialization. It emphasizes both the
way of using early university experience in shaping teacher training, and aiming to achieve
the currently functioning standards of teachers education.
The author of the report comes up with critical reflection concerning excluding subjects of
teaching specialization from the programmes of studies of Polish philology, which resulted
in the lack of integration, in the accepted model of university education, of specialization
knowledge – on literary theory or linguistic theories – with pedagogical-methodological
knowledge.
This report signals deficiencies of the educational system of future teachers, in the
situation of acceptance of an organizational and structural formula of university education
which separates training concerned with the contents of the subject from pedagogicalmethodological
training.
