The question of a creative school and teacher has long fascinated academics and teachers
– the practitioners. Both pedagogical literature and press articles provide lots of reflection
of either a theoretical or a common-sense nature. The authors of those statements often
have to face various doubts and they base their works on various theories and personal
experiences. The world that surrounds us constitutes a source of many exciting questions,
and the media, by creating an atmosphere of sensation around them, do not make this
reflection any easier.
Henryk Rowid (1877–1944) put great hope in the future; still he could not have
known that 69 years after his death he would be chosen as the leader of a huge movement
struggling to make the Polish school normal in the 21st Century.
Nowadays we should ask a question: Are schools and their teachers able to transform
themselves into a truly educational system, whose each and every element will be integrated
with a modern-style educational center, and each such unit would deem itself responsible
for cooperation with the center in a wise, far-sighted way, and with full responsibility for
teaching dignity and respect, as well as for giving support to everyone who needs it?
