Conversation, sometimes called a therapeutic conversation, is the key to solve pupils’
problems. It should be characterized by careful listening, skillful questions’ asking, patience
and sympathy. A conversation relieving tensions, fears, concerns, conducing to creating
new ways of thinking, perception and behavior. Janusz Korczak, Maria Grzegorzewska
and Henryk Rowid emphasized this writing about teacher at the beginning of the last
century. Unfortunately, the skills of good communication, listening with sympathy and
giving support are reserved for specialists, psychologists and psychotherapists. Why does
it happen? Is it difficult for the contemporary teacher to be in a close, sincere and open
relationship with a pupil? These questions are answered in the article, considering own
experience as a therapist-teacher and analysis of the latest studies.
