The subject of consideration is the analysis of so far attempts at creating a modern
life-long education system for the needs and challenges of the 21st century. They are only
a part of necessary constructive discussion. Theoretical premises are derived from the
output of consecutive conventions of Polish Pedagogical Association and a choice of
latest publications of the research subject’s literature. It follows that proper qualification
and perfection of pedagogical staff is the main condition of searching and putting into
practice optimal and real solutions in the field of education. Possibilities resulting from
statutory conditions and ministerial executive acts are also very important for educational
practice. The prospects of further changes in the conceptions of teachers’ education
were outlined on the basis of last years’ experience, introducing educational standards
by universities at pedagogical majors and suggestion to replace them with National
Evaluating Frame in accordance with the amendment of the Higher Education Act
of 5 April 2011. It is assumed that the announced increase of organizational as well as
content- related and methodological autonomy of universities will allow to prepare the
graduates better for realization of their educational tasks in accordance with high public
demands and expectations.
